We’ve developed a down alternative fill called Cluster-Loft that is uniquely designed and shaped to mimic the characteristics of down feathers, so you get all of the great fluffy love of down without scalping Tweety and friends. Also, because our Cluster-Loft fill mimics down, the fill power can be measured like real down to give you an accurate read on what to expect from your Layla Comforter.

Most comforters are quilted into squares or rectangles and each quilted shape holds a measured amount of fill within it. These quilted shapes in the comforter are called baffle boxes. We designed the iconic Layla hexagons into the patent-pending Layla Comforter baffle boxes not only because it looks super smooth, but because the hexagon shape helps to balance the fill and keeps it from bunching up in the corners of the baffle box.

Fill weight is measured by the weight of fill per square meter. Typically a warm weather comforter has a 5 oz. fill weight (5 oz./SQM) and a cold weather comforter has a 15 oz. or greater fill weight (15 oz.+/SQM). After rigorous testing, we found that 10 oz./SQM was the perfect amount of fill to keep you cool in summer and warm in winter. So... you got it, the Layla Down Alternative Comforter has a 10 oz. fill weight - because we like options, and you do too.

Our Cluster-Loft down alternative fill not only protects the birds, it takes care of you too. Since we don’t use any bird feathers in our fill, the Layla Comforter is 100% hypoallergenic. You’ll also be happy to know that this comforter is OEKO-TEX® Certified, meaning you can be certain that every component of the comforter has been tested for harmful substances and is harmless to human health.
Duvet? Or not duvet?
Is that the question? We’ve designed this comforter as a standalone piece that feels amazing and looks fantastic on top of any bed, but if you’d like to use a duvet cover with it, we’ve sewn in loops on all four corners so you can easily attach your duvet cover. When they say “either or”, we say “both!” – because we know you want it all (and you should get it).
